The Pulaski County Board of County Commissioners, the executive-legislative body of Pulaski County, meets on the first and third Monday (Tuesday when a holiday falls on the Monday) of each month in the meeting room on the second floor of the courthouse, 112 East Main Street, Winamac, at 6:00 p.m. E.T. and 8:30 a.m. E.T., respectively. In even-numbered months, a joint session of the Board and the County Council is held at 5:00 p.m., immediately prior to the Council’s meeting, on the second Monday (Tuesday when a holiday falls on the Monday).
Each commissioner must reside in a certain district, but all commissioners are voted for at-large by the residents of the county. The three commissioners are the custodians of the home-rule powers of the County and are responsible for the following:
- County buildings, lands, and property;
- auditing and authorizing claims against the County;
- receiving bids and authorizing contracts;
- supervising many County departments;
- overseeing construction and maintenance of roads and bridges; and
- exercising many of the legislative powers and duties of the County.
