In 1923, E.C. Overmyer purchased his father-in-law’s Francesville Brick and Tile Company, a manufacturer of clay tiles used to keep farm fields drained for maximum production. By the 1960s, the company saw that there was a great future in plastics, and corrugated plastic drainage pipes became the mainstay of the company’s business.
Today, Fratco has expanded its line to include products for residential, agricultural, and commercial applications and strives for an environmentally-friendly, zero-waste manufacturing process. Fratco employs more than 70 people and is one of the Midwest’s leading manufacturers of corrugated pipe, with plants in Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, and prides itself on having remained a family-owned and -operated business, now under the leadership of the fourth Overmyer generation.
